When Federer lost Wimbledon title to Nadal some time back, one of my colleagues set a status message on his G-talk as "FED is EX". That time I thought that Nadal is a very good player and Federer lost this match after 65 consecutive victories on grass court. I thought of writing a blog post after ongoing Olympics in which I was sure that Federer would turn out as a winner. But since then he is not playing well and his loss to US no. 1, James Blake, seals this.

After loosing Wimbledon, Federere retained his No. 1 ranking. But he lost the No. 1 ranking on August 18th after early exits in his next two tournaments. At the 'Rogers Cup' in Toronto, Canada, Federer received a first round bye and then lost in the second round. He also lost to Ivo Karlovic at the 'Cincinnati Masters', ending his hope to defend his title.

Now you guys decide: is this great player come to an end? Is Federer era ending? Is Nadal all set to replace Federer and writing history? Whatever the future is, one thing to say that Federer is an all time great player and he has raised the standard to be world no. 1 and mor importantly retaining that position.
